Papelito

It's not just paper, it's Papelito

You’ve probably never stopped to think about it. Where does the rolling paper you use actually come from?

For decades, the rolling paper market followed the same pattern everywhere. Brands came from Europe or Asia. Local distributors sold them. No one really took ownership of what was inside the pack. Latin America was no exception.

Papelito arrived to change that. And it did.

IN CASE YOU DIDN’T KNOW:

Papelito is the first and only rolling paper factory in Latin America. Over a decade building an industry from scratch — in Brasília, at the heart of Brazil.

Why Owning the Factory Changes Everything

It’s not about national pride. It’s about control — from raw materials to the paper that ends up in your hands.

When something isn’t right, it gets fixed. No waiting for a supplier on the other side of the Atlantic. No pricing shifts from currency fluctuation. No surprises in the middle of a production run. In other words, the entire chain is under one roof.

Most importantly? The factory is what makes real innovation possible.

Innovation That Only Happens When You Own the Process

Having a factory means not having to ask anyone for permission to try something new. That’s why Papelito develops, tests, and launches everything in-house.

A concrete example: naturally dyed rolling papers, like the Pink and Alfafa lines. Not just an aesthetic decision — the result of proprietary research to ensure the dye doesn’t affect burn quality or paper composition. Without a factory, that level of control simply doesn’t exist.

Another example is Diamond Burn technology. Most papers burn unevenly: one end races, one side falls behind. Diamond Burn solves this with a diamond-pattern microperforation system along the paper that regulates airflow during combustion — delivering a slow, stable, even burn from start to finish. Developed and tested entirely in-house.

That kind of solution can’t be sourced. It has to be built.

Credentials That Cross Borders

In 2023, Papelito won the iF Design Award — one of the most recognized design prizes in the world — for its brand redesign. It’s not common for a Latin American rolling paper company to have an international award on the shelf. Furthermore, Papelito is B Corp certified, operates with carbon-neutral production, runs entirely on solar energy, and has a target to plant 100,000 trees by 2027.

What This Means for Retailers and Distributors

Stable supply, a complete product range from a single source, and direct support without importers in between. As a result, retailers who choose Papelito don’t need to piece together five different brands to build a full offering. Papers, filters, tips — with batch-to-batch consistency.

Moreover, working with Brazilian rolling papers means predictable lead times and pricing that doesn’t move with the euro or the dollar. Therefore, choosing Papelito isn’t just a product decision — it’s a supply chain decision.

This Is Just the Beginning

Papelito keeps investing in new products, in process, and in initiatives that place Latin America at the center of the global rolling paper market. Not as an alternative to a European brand. As a reference in its own right.
